London Mozart Players announce Launch Event

Sunday 23 October 2016
15:00 to 17:00

This informal family concert will showcase the talents of an internationally renowned orchestra and celebrate their arrival in Upper Norwood.

In an afternoon of music, art and performance, this free-to-attend community event is suitable for the whole family and will bring together many local businesses and organisations from across the Croydon borough.

After a short concert performance, mingle with the musicians and experience many of the cultural delights Upper Norwood has to offer, including:

A preview of the critically acclaimed series ‘Bach to Baby’ – Classical concerts for babies and toddler
An interactive kids art workshop led by local artist Sofia Greaves
An art exhibition in the foyer of St John the Evangelist from local artists
Food and drink stalls by suppliers from the Crystal Palace Food Market (a Transition Town project)
Programme highlights include a performance of Piazzolla’s Autumn from The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires and Handel’s famous Arrival of the Queen of Sheba.

Having been the resident orchestra of The Fairfield Halls in Croydon for over 26 years, after the venue closed for refurbishment in July this year, the LMP have relocated their offices out of the concert hall and into the community surrounding St John the Evangelist.

This will be the first concert the LMP have performed since moving offices to Upper Norwood in July.

The orchestra plan to embark on an exciting new partnership with St John’s which will fully integrate them into the heart of the Croydon community; creating a new accessible concert series and further developing their highly-regarded community and education programme in the North of the Croydon borough.

This launch event will form part of Croydon Council’s Ambition Festival, which takes place from October 22 to 30. The festival celebrates an eclectic mix of performances and installations across South London.

Tickets to this event are free but there are limited places, so booking in advance is advised. You can help support future the LMP’s community projects and concerts by giving a voluntary donation via the booking form. This can be done through the LMP website
