Early Career Teachers & Mentors: A Best Practice Conference

Wednesday 01 December 2021
14:00 to 18:00

Takes place on 1st and 2nd December from 2.00 - 6.00pm

One in three early career teachers (ECTs) will leave the profession within their first five years. The support they receive during this crucial period is key to protect their wellbeing, work/life balance, and ensure they survive and thrive at the chalkface.

At the same time, the role of ECT mentors has been expanded to a two-year programme of support under the Early Career Framework (ECF), presenting a new challenge to mentors across the country.

The event seeks to equip ECTs to thrive during their first years in the classroom, support mentors to offer the best support possible during this period and help schools to play their part in protecting the teaching talent of the future.
