The Sheila McKechnie Foundation’s popular five-day “Influencing Change” programme will begin again on 24 January 2017. The programme is funded by Trust for London and is spread over three months. Each day focuses on a key element of campaigning and influencing, including:
- Campaign strategy development.
- Influencing decision makers.
- Getting your message out through social media and broadcast media.
- Winning hearts and minds to persuade people to support your campaigns.
Previous speakers on the programme have come from: the Houses of Parliament, the BBC, Shelter, The Daily Mail, Friends of the Earth, Trinity Mirror, Haringey Council and 38 degrees. Previous participants have said “the programme has equipped me with growing confidence to challenge decision makers failing the community” and “in the time since I started the course, I have successfully executed - and won - a campaign to overturn a government decision.”
The programme is worth £2,000 per place, but thanks to funding from Trust for London the fees range from £690 - £115, with free places available for individuals and groups on low incomes.
The deadline for applications is 13 December 2016.
