Croydon Playing Fields Association is offering money to sports groups providing schemes to get children active in a bid to get youngsters away from their computers and phones.
Schemes have the chance to apply for a share of about £60,000 grant money from the association which is particularly keen to hear from groups working with disabled people.
The association are looking to encourage children to be more active and also to encourage a love of fresh air and recreation. They want to engage young children in activities other than gazing at a computer screen so they are not constantly on their mobiles. They have supported a number of clubs across the borough and now wants to extend a helping hand to any worthwhile initiatives. All the schemes that apply will be considered on their merit and there is no upper limit for any one grant. To apply write to: Mr E Handley, 38 Sandilands, Addiscombe, Croydon CR0 5DB.
