'Creation Not Cure, celebrating ABCD across the UK' will take place on Thursday 30 June, from 12.00pm - 5.00pm, in Islington, London. To register your place and for details on the event click here.
Nurture Development, representing the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) Institute in Chicago, is supporting 13 learning sites across the UK that are working with local people to create a more citizen-centred form of democracy. The conference will showcase their ABCD experiences, highlighting some of the creative solutions being found by local people to make communities safer, more enterprising, healthier and above all more neighbourly places in which to live, work and have fun. The event will be hosted by the organisations coming together to form ABCD England, a network of community building teams committed not just to the principles of ABCD, but to their practice. The timing of the event is significant. Commissioners, researchers and health strategists who subscribe to an asset-based approach are very much in evidence now. Less highly profiled are the organisations with on-the-ground experience of managing community building projects. The keynote presentation will be delivered by Cormac Russell from Nurture Development.
