The council in partnership with the local community is offering organisations the chance to express their interest in a much-loved, historic building in Ashburton Park. The council has been considering options for the old Ashburton Library and has made a commitment to repair the building to make it fit for use, ready to receive a suitable occupier. The ‘locally listed’ former convent has over 6,200 sq ft of space and potential uses include a café or restaurant, a nursery, or uses that support health, education, sports and the arts. The council will also consider options that are sympathetic to the park, meet its ambitions for the area and utilise the majority of space for community use. Business, community or other organisations’ are encouraged to come forward with ideas for full or part use of the building so they have the opportunity to be included in any plans.
The building is being marketed by Stiles Harold Williams and expressions of interest are due in by 30 April 2016.
