The government is working in partnership with the Big Lottery Fund and the Cooperative Foundation to form the Building Connections Fund.

According to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, the government has matched the Big Lottery Fund’s £5m, with a further £1m coming from the Cooperative Foundation.

Two lottery funders were making more funding available to tackle loneliness:

  1. The People’s Postcode Lottery has committed £5m - http://www.postcodetrust.org.uk/
  2. The Health Lottery has committed £4m - https://www.healthlottery.co.uk/good-causes/

Charities will be able to apply for Building Connections Fund from July until the end of December 2020, and more details, including maximum and miniumum grants, will be announced then. The funds will be used to “support groups to understand the impact of their work and share best practice about how to prevent loneliness”.
