Equality, fairness, and inclusion is a journey, to an ideal destination. The Covid 19 pandemic, swiftly followed by global protests following the shocking killing of George Floyd show that although we may think we live, play and work in fair and equitable communities there still remain large pockets of discrimination, inequality and exclusion throughout the country and across the borough.
As the Council develops a new Equality Strategy, and Equality Objectives they are looking to you or stakeholders to provide valuable information, feedback and comments about where you think they are on the equality journey, what you think the Council has done to reduce inequality, and what more they can or should be doing to ensure the Council meets its Public Sector duty under the Equality Act 2010 to protect people from discrimination in the workplace and in wider society.
During this engagement session, they will be looking to use a tool called Retrium to capture views, thoughts and comments on:
- Things the Council has done to reduce inequality
- Actions that the Council maybe needs to give greater effort or focus to ensure equity, fairness and inclusion
- What types of actions the Council should prioritise – i.e. our aims and objectives
Your views are very important and will help to shape the equalities priorities going forward. The survey ends on 30 August 2020.
Take the survey here.
As well as taking the survey there are other ways you can take part - see below
