LGBTQ Support in Croydon

Metro services for LGBTQ+ young people and professionals working with them  

For LGBTQ young people, Metro Charity offers youth groups, 1:1 support, counselling and social events:  

  • METRO’s LGBTQ youth groups are a social and supportive space where young people can explore and celebrate their identities. Trained youth workers deliver a range of age appropriate and youth-led sessions on topics such as positive role models, healthy living, drug and alcohol awareness and RSE.  

  • TUESDAYS The Bridge (Croydon) 
    MONTHLY Transcend for trans, non-binary and gender questioning young people:  In reality, while the sessions are online, young people aren’t restricted by geography and can attend as many groups a week as they like so ask for other borough's dates if the young person cannot do Tuesdays. 

  • For LGBTQ young people who need extra support you can refer for p to 12 free sessions with their LGBTQ counselling team, or young people can email them directly.  It is open to ages 8-25, it can be delivered on Zoom or at one of our offices and the current wait time is 2-3 months.  Email   


For professionals, METRO offers LGBTQ Awareness Training - both free workshops and paid-for packages. The free option is specifically for groups working with young people. The sessions are informative, fun and interactive and cover sexual orientation and gender identity awareness; topics include LGBTQ+ terminology, definitions, stereotypes, norms, and how we can best support young people.  Please email to attend.
