Henry Smith Charity
The Trustees have decided that they will no longer fund:
- Capital projects
- Projects focussing on healthcare and hospices, or
- Projects specifically targeted at supporting ex-servicemen and women under our Main Grants Programme.
Further changes are planned. The trustees have said:
"During the course of 2016 and 2017 we are carrying out a strategic review of our grantmaking, which is likely to result in further changes to our guidelines in 2017. If you are thinking of applying, please make sure you check the guidelines again before making your application."
What can be funded?
Main Grants Programme - Revenue Grants. Revenue grants of £10,000 a year and over. Grants can be for up to three years for running costs (including salaries and overheads), or the running costs of a specific project (including staffing costs).
Holiday Grants for Children. One-off grants of up to £2,500 for organisations, schools, youth groups etc specifically for holidays or outings for children under the age of 13 who are disabled or who live in areas of high deprivation. "PLEASE NOTE All funds for 2016 have now been allocated. This programme is closed and will re-open for 2017 Holiday Grants towards the end of this year."
Christian Projects. The Will of Henry Smith included a requirement to fund work which explicitly promotes the Christian faith. We generally support projects that come from a Church of England context and closely fit our four priority areas for the Christian Projects Grants Programme. Please note we are only able to fund work which promotes faith under the Christian Projects Grants Programme. All our other programmes will not fund any work which includes the promotion of religion.
