Mentor and Buddy Roles

CVA runs 3 projects where volunteers are trained and supported to build one-to-one relationships to help people as they face challenges.
New Routes Mentor

As a New Routes Mentor, you will provide guidance and support to individuals that are in the process of turning their lives around.  The individuals in need of support come from all walks of life however, either alcohol or drugs have played a part in impacting their well-being.

Young Person Mentor
The young people in need of support will each have their own experiences but all will be aged between 16-25 and will have received intensive support from CAYSH. CAYSH is a South London charity that provides safe homes and support for young people to reach the potential. We are looking for Mentors who can take time to have a chat on a weekly to provide support as they take their place in the world of work and deal with new challenges and responsibilities.

Buddy to support someone with Learning Disabilities

As a Volunteer Buddy, you will provide support to a Supported Volunteer to enable them to participate in meaningful volunteering activities. CVA are delivering this project in partnership with Croydon Mencap, they will provide expert advice and support thought out.

Ideal for individuals interested in carrying out supportive roles, those with an interest in providing real hands-on support to people with Learning Disabilities and those with an interest in community-based services. You'll need to show empathy and be able to build a friendly relationship while maintaining boundaries
