Safeguarding Children Training L4

Thursday 09 July 2015
09:30 to 14:30

Level 4:  Safe recruitment and selection processes are essential if settings, organisations and institutions are to attract the best staff and deter and reject those who may pose a risk to children or who are unsuitable to work with them. This course promotes safer recruitment practice and challenges poor and unsafe processes. Participants will have opportunities to examine how to continually assess the ‘suitability’ of staff, volunteers and students and how to challenge and improve poor, unsafe recruitment processes. All of those involved in working with children should have access to advice and support from peers, managers, or named and designated professionals (Working Together 2013). In addition, Lord Laming’s inquiry (2003) into the circumstances around the death of Victoria Climbie, together with public inquiries and serious case reviews, recommend that all practitioners should receive regular one to one supervisions which should include a specific emphasis on child protection. This course will help you and your front line managers to create and sustain an effective supportive supervisory framework.
