Croydon Family Power

Croydon Family Power's Asset Based Community Development programme covered the 3 wards of Broad Green, Selhurst and Thornton Heath.

Through community conversations and harnessing skills and talents of residents in the three areas, we have supported them to share theri talent and become Community connectors; resulting in an amazing array of new projects tackling local issues.

Ex. A group of women who came together to support each others in finding employment, find themselves discussing their joint concerns about the safety of women and girls in Thornton Heath. They decided to hold an event; Crystal Palace football club provided the venue; 50 parents attended and presentations by the NSPCC,Freedom Together and RASASC.

The event was a great success and all participants pledged to take the information and knowledge shared to all their connections, family, friends, neighbours, faith groups. This is the essence of ABCD, the connecting of people to raise and solve local issues.
