How to be a highly effective relationship builder with all types of people. 

Course starts: 29 September 2025 (Monday). 

Time: 7.15-9.15 (4 weekly sessions – missing out 6th Oct, so last session is 27th Oct). 

This course is focused on developing interpersonal skills and understanding the  
characteristics which are key to all relationships (ie friends, colleagues, neighbours,  
family members or partners). Being able to have effective relationships is a key factor influencing  
our mental health and wellbeing. 

This is an in-person interactive course with a friendly, informal style. We hear from others how practical tips suggested by the course have helped tackle challenges. Attendees are given a workbook & handouts.  

The course is part of series of seven regular courses known as ‘Positive Life Courses’.  
A Positive Life is one that is: uplifting, encouraging, wholesome, confident, optimistic, good, hopeful, upbeat, productive, useful, helpful, progressive, worthwhile, enthusiastic, supportive, pleasing, heartening, prudent and forward-looking. The course will cover 

How to: 

• be highly effective listeners (including understanding five profiles of poor listeners) 

• use five Relationship Language Preferences to develop relationships 

• use seven character traits associated with highly effective builders of ‘positive’ relationships 

• make effective use of time to enable our relationships to grow. 

The course also covers the important topic of Personality Styles (the ‘DISC’ model) as this can help us understand ourselves better – & others – and reduce the risk of conflict & relationship difficulties. We look at how we can work better with those with a different Personality Style to ourselves. 

If you want to develop your interpersonal skills to an advanced level this is the course you!  
If you put into practice the principles and practical tips from this course you should be able to initiate, build and grow highly effective relationships with all types of people.
