Overview of hidden harm and harmful traditional practices (LSCP)

Monday 14 July is the National Remembrance Day for victims of so-called 'Honour Based Abuse', which marks the birthday of Shafilea Ahmed. Shafilea was born in Bradford and murdered by her parents in Warrington in 2003.

 

An hour's taster session giving a top-level awareness overview of Hidden Harm and harmful traditional practices, including:

 

  • Honour-based abuse
  • Forced marriage
  • Modern slavery and human trafficking
  • Female genital mutilation (FGM)
  • Sex selection abortion
  • Breast ironing/flattening

 

The session will be run by Bal Howard, who has lived experience of these areas.
