For Baby's Sake - Recognising & Responding to the impact of domestic abuse in pregnancy and early childhood

The workshop focuses on exploring the effects of domestic abuse during pregnancy. Participants will learn to identify how domestic abuse can influence the physical, psychological and emotional wellbeing of unborn babies while gaining practical skills and resources to facilitate meaningful conversations with parents using our trauma insight tools. The session equips professionals to recognise signs of trauma, implement effective safeguarding strategies, and provide comprehensive support both before birth and throughout the critical early weeks of a baby’s life.
Workshop Aims:
- Gain a thorough understanding of how domestic abuse impacts unborn children.
- Learn to identify indicators of domestic abuse occurring during pregnancy.
- Examine the potential long-term consequences of early exposure to abuse on children’s health and developmental outcomes.
- Discover practical tools designed to enhance professional practice and strengthen support for families.
- Identify strategies for support and intervention with a focus on trauma-informed approaches.
