For Baby’s Sake – Whole Family Approach to Breaking Cycles of Domestic Abuse. Trauma Insight Tools and Emotional Safety Plans.

This workshop, presented by The For Baby's Sake Trust, offers critical insights into safely working with co-parents experiencing domestic abuse, through a multi-agency perspective. Participants will gain knowledge about the For Baby's Sake therapeutic, trauma informed approach, explore methods to prioritise the safety and wellbeing of expectant co-parents and their children, and learn practical ways to enhance collaboration among agencies and access trauma-informed resources.
An introduction to The For Baby’s Sake Trust Trauma Insight Resources and Emotional Safety Plans, and how to implement them in practice. These tools support practitioners to understand that unresolved trauma can negatively affect every aspect of life, so discovering the root of fears, insecurities, and sabotaging life patterns is crucial to enhance the possibility for recovery and sustained change.
Workshop Aims:
- Understand the For Baby's Sake programme model and its unique, holistic approach to domestic abuse.
- Learn best practices for collaborating across agencies to support both co-parents while safeguarding unborn babies, babies & children and how to refer families to For Baby’s Sake. Gain insights into therapeutic, trauma informed interventions that improve outcomes for families experiencing domestic abuse.
- Understand how to recognise and respond to trauma and adversity
- Offer advice, guidance, and examples of how to open up difficult, often avoided conversations for professionals working with individuals presenting with multiple & complex needs in whatever capacity
- Demonstrate how Emotional Safety Plans can equip both professionals and parents to focus on emotional safety and reflect on their emotional needs, including feeling heard, seen, and having their needs met through verbal and non verbal communication.
