Ask yourself - when was the last time you simply asked a client or beneficiary to tell their story? How did you capture their story in their own words?
Holding conversations with a purpose are more personalised than surveys. Recording your interviews can be a lot easier for you and more accurate than taking detailed notes.
Conversation also gives them the chance to say what they think and feel without the pressure of writing. With 7.1 million adults in the UK having ‘very poor literacy skills’, being able to speak out can be a game-changer.
An intimate experience, if audio is then shared, it encourages the listener to focus on what’s being said and imagine themselves in the person’s shoes - helping your stakeholders to connect with the challenges, hopes and changes in people’s lives, including the impact of your work.
