Examining adultification and the impact on children from intersectional perspectives including ethnicity, culture, and neurodiversity.

Learning objectives

  • Introduce the concept of adultification
  • Understand the risks to Black children and young people
  • Explore and recognise how adultification manifests in our practice and the impact on contextual safeguarding of children and young people
  • Understand the broad concepts of intersectionality and adultification
  • Examine the implications for practice, improving professional curiosity and cultural competence
  • Identify barriers and strategies for change to improve safeguarding of Black and global majority children and young people
