Understanding the impact of domestic abuse on babies and children (Croydon Family Hubs)

This  workshop aims to raise awareness about the impact of domestic abuse on unborn babies and children. Participants will learn how exposure to abuse affects a child's emotional, psychological, and physical health. The session will help professionals recognise trauma signs, implement safeguarding measures, and provide support. This training will empower attendees to create safer environments for affected babies, children, and young people.

 

Workshop Aims:

  • Understand domestic abuse and its effects on unborn babies,  babies, and children.
  • Provide information on various forms of domestic abuse and their impacts.
  • Recognise signs of domestic abuse in babies and children.
  • Explore long-term effects of exposure on children's health and development.
  • Identify strategies for support and intervention, including trauma-informed approaches.
  • Promote collaboration with agencies for coordinated responses.

This session is designed for professionals in health, social care, policing, education and related sectors who work directly or indirectly with families affected by domestic abuse.
