Turn your outcomes into a clear, funder ready story - without weeks of work. In this hands on, practical course we’ll guide charities and community organisations through building an impact report in Canva from start to finish.

You’ll learn how to shape a compelling narrative, pick and customise the right report template, and use charts and infographics to make your data easy to understand.

We’ll demo simple ways to add short video and audio clips so your beneficiaries’ voices come through - great for sharing on your website, social and in funding updates.

If you are creating your year-end report for the Charity Commission we'll also suggest what to include as part of the SORP 2026 requirements.

Bring (optional): any data, quotes, photos or short videos you’d like to include. Otherwise we’ll provide examples so you can practice.

This session will cover

You’ll leave with:
*A draft impact report in a reusable Canva template, ready to refine and share

*Clear storylines and key messages that connect outcomes, evidence and real world change

*Skills for building charts and infographics that show your change or evidence future need

You’ll also discover ways to enhance your report with audio and video and embed data from other sources.

Pre-course requirement

You will need to set up a Canva account if your organisation does not already have one. Although you can use Canva on a phone or tablet to create designs, we will be focused on using Canva in a browser such as Google Chrome or Firefox.

Is this course for me?

Perfect for: time pressed teams who need to show results quickly and accessibly, with no specialist design software required.

You do not have to be a 'techie' to take part. However, this course is not suitable for complete beginners of Canva (i.e. you must be able to move around your dashboard, create a new design and add text and shapes).

Course format

Online technical group training

This is an online interactive live training session. You'll take part in interactive exercises such as breakout room discussions, polls or chat conversations.

You will be asked to complete individual technical tasks on your PC or laptop. You will not be able to join this training using a mobile device. It's likely that you will need to either create online accounts or download appropriate software, which we'll tell you about in advance.
