Introducing the Planet Youth model as a public health prevention approach and exploring how to reduce risk and strengthen protection.

The Planet Youth model is currently being piloted across areas of Scotland through Winning Scotland, with support from the Scottish government.

Learning objectives

• Explain the core principles behind the Planet Youth model
• Identify the four protective factors
• Recognise the six key risk factors linked to early experimentation and substance use
• Understand why early prevention and community-wide responses matter
• Reflect on how upstream prevention approaches could strengthen local practice
