Becoming anti-racist (LSCP)

Tuesday 08 December 2026
10:00 to 11:30

A space for delegates to deepen their anti-racist knowledge, as well as engage in discussion and reflection.

This 90-minute interactive session explores what it means to practise in an anti-racist way. It considers how racism and racial inequality can shape people’s experiences of services, professional relationships, and decision-making, and why anti-racist practice is an essential part of ethical and effective practice.

Through reflection, discussion, and practical activities, participants will consider their own professional practice, the power they hold, and how they can use that power to recognise and challenge racial inequality.

Learning objectives

  • Demonstrate an awareness and understanding of anti-racist practice and its importance and relevance to your work
  • Reflect on personal and professional areas of development as they relate to possible racism and discrimination experienced by the people you work with and for
  • Plan how you will use the power you hold to address issues of racial inequality within, or related to your work

This session will be led by Nadia Galvani, Fran Feeley, and Eugene Ogbewele from Social Matters.
