Sandy Johnson

HR Admin - Volunteer Centre Croydon

Our HR Administrator volunteers are key to helping us maintain a robust database of volunteers ensuring that all requirements are made before a volunteer is taken on

One such volunteer is Sandy Johnson. She has been volunteering with us not just supporting with HR Admin duties but also helping out at different events. Here’s her story!

Sandy’s Story

I started volunteering to meet and enjoy being with other people, while providing support to the CVA organisation.

Sandy

Since being at CVA I have volunteered to support the staff with projects and my volunteering role has included:

Administrator, HR duties and Receptionist duties supporting projects including New Routes Projects such as: Probation mentoring and Women’s Court Workers; Turning Point referrals for drug and alcohol abuse; IAPT; Palace for Life - mentoring for Youth Project Support; COVID - supporting volunteers during the pandemic; CAYSH & Mencap - supporting and maintaining records for volunteers' reports of their clients' meetings. as well as helping with the start-up of the Christmas Wrap which started in the Whitgift Centre and greeting people who drop-in to register their interests in volunteering and booking appointments for them with our Advisors.

How Has Volunteering Changed Sandy’s Life?

Volunteering twice in each week has given me purpose, especially as I am retired and need to keep both mind and body active. I have been volunteering for a mere 12 years and have met and made many new friends. Volunteering has kept me current and up-to-date with technology which I enjoy.

I loved volunteering and will do it again.
