Pressure Ulcer Workshop

Overview:

This course is designed for people who care for service users with pressure ulcers or who are at risk of developing pressure ulcers

Objectives:

Delegates will be able to:

♦ Understand what is a pressure ulcer and its four categories ♦ Identify all pressure points on the body ♦ Understand their responsibilities in prompt identification and reporting of skin damage ♦ Understand simple measures to prevent pressure ulcers

Course content:

♦Functions of the skin ♦Categories of pressure ulcers ♦Risk assessment ♦Prevention and management of pressure ulcers ♦Accountability and responsibility ♦Avoidable and unavoidable pressure ulcers ♦Pressure ulcers and safeguarding ♦Pressure relieving equipment

Target group:

♦Social care staff in DASHH ♦Staff working for organisations in the Social Care Learning Partnership ♦Domiciliary care workers and ♦Informal carers within the London Borough of Croydon
