This two-day Expanding Cultural Competencies: Supporting Young LGBTQ+ training is being run by Croydon Safeguarding Children Partnership (CSCP).

The two half-day sessions are open to safeguarding staff who regularly work with young people whose gender expression or identity is significant in how they are supported in services. 

Day 1 covers ‘Cultural competencies’ and invites staff to explore practical and ethical challenges involved when a young person shares that they might be LGBTQ+. 

Day 2 develops the young-person-centred approach with more focus on the variety of narratives and contexts that make the approach ‘descriptive, not prescriptive’.
