Data Essentials for Raising Voice and Influencing Change (Superhighways)

Thursday 26 September 2024
10:00 to 12:00

Description

In the lead up to London Challenge Poverty Week, join us to look at how to identify and frame the data you collect, alongside external data sources, to present a case and influence change.

Small charities and community organisations are capturing useful data all the time. So are local authorities, national government, big charities and companies. Both our own data and that of others can help us draw insights into people's circumstances and enable us to advocate for change or campaign for vital resources to meet need. We'll help you explore both internal and external data that could help build your case.

We'll look at examples of organisations that are doing this and help you to think about how you can use stories from your work, backed up with your quantitative data and external data, to advocate for change for your community.

This session will cover

In this free session for beginners, we will think about:
* who are the change makers that you want to influence?
* what qualitative data do you collect in your organisation already, that might help shape your argument?
* how could you sensitively use lived experience to emotionally connect your audience to your message?
* which external datasets might add weight to your local voice?
* which free/low cost tools and resources could your organisation make use of, to collect and visualise this data?
