Introductory interactive session on Prevent safeguarding developed specifically for frontline staff.
Objectives

To familiarize participants with the aim and objectives of the Prevent Strategy within the wider context of CONTEST, the government's counter-terrorism strategy

To enable participants to recognize indicators of vulnerability to radicalization and violent extremism

To explore the psychological and social factors that may influence individuals to become involved in extremist ideologies or activities

To empower participants to identify and respond effectively to individuals who may be at risk, including knowing when and how to intervene or seek help

To provide participants with clear guidance on the support mechanisms available within their organizations and wider community, and to clarify roles and responsibilities in responding to cases of vulnerability to radicalization and extremism
Introduction
Prevent is one of the four elements of CONTEST, the government's counter-terrorism strategy. It aims to stop people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism. The Home Office works with local authorities and a wide range of government departments, and community organisations to deliver the Prevent Strategy.
Content
This introductory interactive session has been developed specifically for frontline staff. It will help you to identify people who may be vulnerable and at risk of becoming involved in radicalisation and violent extremism and provides advice on how to respond appropriately. This training is free for local statutory agencies and voluntary sector organisations.
Learning outcomes
On completion of this course participants will:

Have explored why some people are able to influence and manipulate others to commit crimes

Be able to recognise when a vulnerable individual may be in need of your help
