SWL Children and Young People’s (CYP) Mental Health Strategic Delivery Group (recruiting)

Aim: the meeting was established during 2024 as a mechanism for the 2 South West London Mental Health (MH) Trusts (SLaM and SWL and St George's) to meet jointly with the Integrated Care Board (ICB) to develop a ‘core offer’ for NHS MH Trust CAMHS provision in SWL. This core offer is needed because the Trusts have historically been commissioned and funded differently, meaning that there is variation in terms of the CAMHS offer between SWL boroughs.

Agreed areas of focus:

The core offer work is progressing, but there is now a desire to widen the remit of this group to ensure it is overseeing the Children and Young People workstream of the SWL MH Strategy more broadly. Some potential work areas the group will cover include the identification of investment priorities for CYP MH and discussions on the need to balance management of risk in Tier 3 services with developing an enhanced preventative/early support offer.

Meetings: Monthly meetings of 1 hour. Meetings are currently light touch in terms of paperwork (a standing agenda only), although as time goes on there may be more of a need to read some materials in advance. Next two upcoming sessions are:

  • Tuesday 18th March 2025, 2pm-3pm
  • Thursday 17th April 2025, 3.30pm- 4.30pm

What we are looking for: A strategic minded CEO/Director/Founder whose mental health/counselling voluntary sector organisation works with children and young people, ideally across more than one borough in South West London (Merton, Croydon, Wandsworth, Sutton, Richmond and Kingston). The person needs to be willing to represent the wider voluntary sector rather than their own organisation and, to do so, to liaise with other organisations through and feed back to the SWL VCSE Alliance Director. They need to regularly attend local VCSE Forums and networks and be well connected with other voluntary sector organisations and their local infrastructure organisation.

Read our Reimbursement policy and the VCSE representative role description.
