Brief Interventions in Smoking Cessation: Free Public Health Training

Who should attend: Health professionals and others with an interest in Smoking Cessation, Front line staff at GP practices and pharmacies 

Aim:  To enable participants to effectively use brief opportunistic interventions to improve service user access to smoking cessation support. To give participants a basic understanding of smoking cessation support and to help promote a non-smoking normative culture:

Facilitator’s: Beata Tuszkiewicz-Piekarski & Jimmy Burke 

Objective: On completion of this course, participants will be able to: 

·     Develop an understanding of the national and local context of smoking cessation in mental health settings

·     Enhance skills for raising the issue of smoking with clients

·     Develop a basic understanding of individuals and their smoking

·     Refer appropriately to smoking cessation support
