Promoting and Supporting a Breastfeeding Culture

Who should attend: For anyone in contact with breastfeeding mothers and their families – specifically for administrative staff in Health Centres, Children’s Centres and Breastfeeding Peer Supporters. All Croydon Health Services health centre administrative staff needs to attend this training to fulfil requirements for UNCIEF Baby Friendly Accreditation.  This course is not intended for Midwives, Health Visitors or Nursery Nurses as separate training will be available. Aim: To enable participants to promote and support breastfeeding and promote a breastfeeding culture in the local community Facilitator: Dawn Cox
Objectives: On completion of the training participants will:

  • Understand the impact of increasing breastfeeding rates on the health of mothers and babies. • Have explored myths and attributes to breast feeding. • Have knowledge of the Croydon Infant Feeding Policy • Have knowledge of breastfeeding initiatives in Croydon. • Be able to provide information about local services available and know where to make referrals. • Understand how to support breastfeeding within the workplace.
