At the first session - Thursday 6th August - the Croydon Photography Forum (an exciting new photography event run by Lenses of Croydon aimed at bringing together people working in or interested in photography in the local community) was launched.

Guest speaker Gary John Norman, an award-winning lifestyle photographer, gave an enlightening presentation on the stock photography industry and shared more of his considerable knowledge of the space in a question and answer session led by the photographer Alexandra Coyle.

To those tempted to think of photography as a dying art, Norman counters that our society has never been hungrier for images. We might now have fairly sophisticated cameras in the hands of the general public, but it takes a photographer’s eye and sometimes considerable forward planning to seize an image that really captivates the viewer.

The brainchild of Lee Townsend, professional photographer and coordinator of Lenses of Croydon, the Croydon Photography Forum aims to provide a space for photographers to network, learn from the experience of professionals, and discuss their own ideas.
