Stolen Lives: Free Performance
Wednesday 16 September 2015
20:00 to 22:00
This show comes at a time when everyday we hear news about the desperation of people escaping from the dangers of their countries.
All those who have seen the show so far have said it was a terrific evening.
Ser songwriter Paul Field created Stolen Lives as a thought-provoking, creative new project looking at the issues of historical and contemporary slavery through a combination of music, songs, words, images, film and animation. The aim is to raise awareness of modern-day slavery, human trafficking and trans-global child labour issues, by helping to inform today’s (and tomorrow’s) campaigners and providing them with a vibrant and engaging tool to help fight modern slavery. It will help people understand and see that it could be happening in the work place or in the neighbourhood where we all live.
There are seventeen short pieces, nine songs and eight narratives, all with visual backdrops. If you wanted to show others, each one can be used as a ‘stand alone’ piece, several can be linked together or it can be used as a complete presentation. The pieces also provide starting points for discussion and to inspire new creative work in art, dance, drama, images, words and music.
