The Mental Capacity Act: Protecting People's Rights and Best Interests
Friday 16 October 2015
10:00 to 15:00
Croydon Council and Croydon Clinical Commissioning Group invite you to this free conference:
Understand the Mental Capacity Act and how it protects rights and people’s best interests
This conference is to help service users; carers; patients and the public to understand the Mental Capacity Act and its importance in providing care and treatment - protecting the rights of people to make decisions for themselves, and being clear about how others should act if a person lacks capacity to make a decision for themselves.
Have your voice heard in developing new legislation
The Law Commission will present proposals to review the legal safeguards where a person’s care involves restrictions that may deprive them of their liberty. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear what is proposed and to provide their views towards the consultation – we want to hear the views of people who might be affected by this.
This conference is open to all members of the public, advocacy services, service user groups, carer groups and the voluntary sector.
