A one day conference on: ‘Mental Capacity and Deprivation of Liberty (DOLs) Conference: Protective, supportive and restrictive care’ - Law Commission Consultation ‘Croydon practitioners and providers - your opportunity to have your say’
Croydon MCA & DoLS Service and Croydon CCG are jointly organising this consultation conference following the publication of Law Commission’s paper on ‘Mental Capacity and Deprivation of Liberty’. The conference will hear from the Law Commission and other experts and practitioners on the new recommendations and how they can be replaced with a new scheme that achieves better and more appropriate outcomes for people with care and support needs. The conference will also be considering safeguards that provide care and treatment which includes the use of restriction to people who are unable to consent.
This conference is open to practitioners, professionals and providers of health and social care.

Croydon has been fortunate to attract a range of eminent speakers to speak on key issues to clarify what is included, to identify the current challenges and to hear from the public their views and suggestions . This is a positive opportunity to influence the future implementation of the law around Mental Capacity and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguard, and will also offer the opportunity to influence the redrafting of the law.
