Community Planting Day

Sunday 10 January 2016
13:00 to 16:00

Come and help plant your very own community orchard of apple, pear and plum trees!

There are lots of great reasons to be involved:
• Meet your neighbours and make new friends
• Make the park beautiful with blossom in spring and fruit in autumn
• Enjoy lots of free tasty fresh organic local fruit
• Learn about trees and how to look after them
• Enjoy some fresh air and exercise
• Provide a home for local wildlife, including our butterflies and friendly bees
• It’s free!

Tools and gloves provided although you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer. There will be apple cake and mulled cider or apple juice for everyone, bring along your friends and neighbours the more the merrier!

Once in the ground the trees will need to be loved and nurtured for years to come, including watering, pruning, clearing away weeds and of course picking fruit!

There are also lots of other ways that you can take part like helping with refreshments or organising or advertising - you may have some other talent you are willing to share to make the orchard a success?

Also building a community garden so if this is something you are interested in we would love to hear from you too!

You don't need to book a place, but if you have a chance do try to let them know you are coming by email, facebook, twitter or streetlife or if you have any questions or just want to keep updated.
