Who should attend this training?
Practitioners undertaking direct work with children. It is suggested that participants undertake the online e-learning course on Substance

Learning Aims:
To enhance and develop knowledge and skills in working with children and families affected by problematic alcohol and drug use.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand why different people might use drugs
- Identify the potential impact of parental use on children across a range of ages, including young carers
- Explore the cycle of change and how this may impact on an assessment
- Identify sources of further support for parents and the professionals working with them
- Have greater clarity about the thresholds for safeguarding children
- Address your own attitudes and beliefs regarding parenting and substance misuse
- Develop an understanding of how to make an effective assessment
with reference to national assessment framework and identify good practice methods
