Annual KIDS SEND Conference

Wednesday 16 November 2016

At this conference you will learn more about what support is available for child with SEN and also how parents can be involved in the processes.  There are some excellent speakers from Croydon local authority as well as independent speakers (Charlotte Davis, Mary Hrekow) and you will have an opportunity to meet other professionals from Youth Services, Health Watch and others.

Please book using contact email below, giving your full name, telephone number and name of the workshop you would like to attend. Parents, young people and professionals may choose 2 out of 3 workshops.

Speakers are:

Mary Hrekow – this is the speaker, who must be heard! Her presentations are interactive and she gives excellent understanding about how outcomes should be set up and worded. She also speaks about person centred approaches, and how a school can use person centred approach strategy towards children. This is really beneficial for parents as well as SENCOs, teachers and other professionals.

Judith Lunnon will give good understanding about how schools can support children with SEN without statements or EHC Plans. What funding is available and what may happen after educational setting reached maximum of delegated funding.

Charlotte Davis talks about underlying issues and gives practical support/exercises how to develop coordination, fine and gross motor skills etc.

What is the parents’ position once statutory assessment process is taking place? How parents can be involved and when? What role parent or young person plays at the process? There are the matters to discuss with manager of SEN Deborah Johnson.
