Data Science for Social Impact Small Charity Workshop

Wednesday 26 February 2020
14:00 to 16:30

Do you think data science could be useful to your organisation?

This session aims to get you thinking about whether data science is appropriate and useful for your organisation, i.e. to predict users’ needs or better understand their outcomes.

You'll learn how a small Yorkshire foodbank charity called The Welcome Centre have used artificial intelligence (AI) techniques to improve their service. This project was a finalist for 'best use of data to achieve social impact' at the European Data Science Awards 2019.

We will also present an introduction to the key concepts in AI, illustrated with other case studies of data science in the social sector, including small local charity, Mind in Hackney.

This will be followed by a workshop, where you can ask questions and present your ideas to pro-bono data scientists. This is designed to get you thinking about the next steps for your organisation. Get ready to don your thinking cap!

There will be time to chat with colleagues across London. Drinks and nibbles included and post event networking.
