Sustainable Thornton Heath ‘Eco Living Fest’ (South Norwood)
Saturday 18 January 2025
13:00 to 16:00
Sustainable Thornton Heath runs bi-monthly ‘Eco Living Fests’ near to Thornton Heath on the 3rd Saturday afternoon (1-4pm) of the respective months (Jan, Mar, May, Jul, Sep & Nov) at Holy Innocents Church Hall in South Norwood. Entrance is free and people can get free help with cycle repairs, free clothes mending skill sharing, free workshops / demos, refills of cleaning & bodycare products, vegan refreshments, a Kids’ Zone, and lots of free information, advice and inspiration from lots of local groups and organisations on many sustainability themes (e.g. energy, activism, financial services and food).
THIS FEST'S HIGHLIGHTS!
A) FREE painting & mark-making workshop using natural pigments by local artist Stacey McGonigal. Stacey will help you experiment with colour changing through acids and alkalis, and also provide information on how natural pigments can be made. Consider coming in old clothes or bringing an old t-shirt / apron.
B) Learn how to darn items such as jumpers and socks from new volunteer Pat. Interested darners just need to come with a knitted garment that has a hole they want to mend, or a garment that has worn thin and needs reinforcing. Darning isn't quick but the three hours is plenty to learn the technique, which is simple, very meditative and almost without cost!
PLUS WE'LL HAVE ALL THE USUAL STUFF!
