INTRODUCTION TO YOUR RIGHTS & HOW THE LAW AFFECTS YOU (Mentivity)
Thursday 01 October 2026
18:30 to 20:00
Urban Lawyers will be joining us at Mentivity for an interactive session exploring law, rights and how they show up in everyday life. From situations at school and interactions with the police, to what happens in public spaces and within your community, this session is about giving young people practical knowledge they can understand and use.
π
Date: Thursday, 1st October
π Time: 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM
π Location: Mentivity House, 50 Westmoreland Road, London, SE17 2GA

The session will be led by Dr Tunde Okewale OBE, barrister and founder of Urban Lawyers, a charity established to make legal education and the legal profession more accessible to communities that have traditionally been underrepresented. β
Tunde will share his own journey into law, the challenges he has overcome and why he believes understanding your rights can be a powerful tool. He was recently appointed a Master of the Bench of Inner Temple, becoming the youngest in its 650-year history, and has been recognised by Forbes as one of 25 leading Black British business people to follow.
This will not be a lecture. There will be space to:
-
ask questions
-
challenge ideas
-
discuss real situations
-
share your own experiences
βMost importantly, this first session will help shape what comes next. We want to know what you want to understand better. Whether that is stop and search, discrimination, school exclusions, social media, employment, housing, policing or another issue affecting your life, your questions and experiences will help shape future sessions.
βCome with questions. Leave knowing more about your rights.
