Are you interested in running a Community Base in the heart of our local communities in Croydon?

Find out how you could run a community base in one of Croydon's libraries

Croydon Council's Cabinet has approved the new library service model, following an extensive library service review.

The new model will have 9 libraries, each open 5 to 6 days a week, including Saturdays. This enhanced service ensures greater access to resources for many residents.

They are now actively seeking community partners or residents that want to take on our library buildings in Bradmore Green, Broad Green, Shirley and Sanderstead library buildings and run them as ‘Community Bases’.

To ensure Community Bases are sustainable these four library buildings will need to be let in a way which is cost-neutral to the Council.

This means while rent may not be charged, any community partners and residents will need to pay all the other associated costs of running and maintaining these buildings.

The details for each site, including floor plans can be found below.

Viewing sessions are on an open house basis and booking is not required. However, if you have any questions, please do get in touch with the team at communityrelations@croydon.gov.uk.

If you have already viewed one or more of the buildings and are ready to submit an application, download the community base application form and return it to communityrelations@croydon.gov.uk no later than Friday 13 December 2024.
