Following the devastating incident in Southport last week and escalating concerns about disinformation, discrimination and violence across the UK, youth organisations are coming together to provide support.
UK Youth is partnering with the National Youth Agency, and the Network of Regional Youth Work Units, and others to provide a coordinated response to the network of youth organisations and allied professionals working with young people across the UK.
As part of their coordinated response, they are providing resources for youth workers and allied professionals with focus on disinformation, tackling hate, and signposting to advice and support on trauma, safeguarding and lockdown procedures. Space to Connect Sessions
They are also hosting a series of ‘Space to Connect’ sessions for youth workers and allied professionals to come together to reflect, share concerns and seek support. More information, including the links to register for these sessions are below.
Join UK Youth, NYA, and the Network of Regional Youth Work Units for a shared space for youth workers and allied professionals working with young people to connect, reflect and provide support for one another following recent unrest within our communities. At its core, youth work promotes unity, understanding, and peaceful dialogue as alternatives to frustration, violence, and division.
They understand that youth workers are feeling vulnerable, sometimes isolated and scared and hope these spaces will be a space to stand together in solidarity for each other, and to explore a way forward for young people.
The sessions will be supported by trained facilitators.
