Monique Lindsay
For over 12 years, I have been deeply committed to empowering and uplifting vulnerable individuals while ensuring that their wellbeing and self-worth are at the forefront of everything I do.
Growing up I learned to support a family member who struggled with his learning disabilities and mental health issues, so creating opportunities and supporting people to improve the quality of their lives is something I am very passionate about.
I have made it my personal and professional mission to ensure that those who are vulnerable and marginalised have a voice and have the support they need to thrive in society.
With the wealth of knowledge I gained through my Social Policy degree, coupled with the 12 years experience of working in the health and social care sector, has given me a deep understanding of the complex challenges faced by vulnerable individuals.
I have worked with all age groups and demographics, providing care and support while always advocating for their rights and combating health inequalities.
From support staff, I progressed to operations manager of supported housing for young people in the boroughs of both Croydon and Sutton. Tackling issues such as homelessness, substance abuse, trauma and anti-social behaviour.
I have always strived to uplift and empower people to improve the quality of their lives, despite their circumstances I remind them that they are valuable. I have worked tirelessly to ensure that each individual’s voice is heard and their needs are met, no matter how marginalised or vulnerable they may be.
I founded Care Leaders, a social enterprise that has since grown into a vital community group in Croydon, catering to the needs of elderly and disabled people. The group runs every on a weekly basis, focusing on improving health and wellbeing, tackling loneliness and isolation in a fun and inclusive way.
I have built strong partnerships with organisations like Woodside Hub, NHS, Age UK, and Job Centre Croydon, ensuring that I am working collaboratively to provide the highest level of care and support possible.
I am committed to creating a better community for us all, upholding the dignity and worth of every individual and advocating for change and the needs of the people in Croydon to be met. I believe that by working together, we can create a more inclusive community.
