‘Liberating Love’ celebrating Croydon’s LGBTQ+ community

Saturday 25 January 2025
11:00 to 16:00

We’re celebrating LGBTQ+ History Month this February with Liberating Love 2025: A Celebration of Pride Through Resilience and the Activism of Love, an immersive new exhibition.

The exhibition will also honour the inspiring legacies of activists Ray Harvey-Amer and Claire Triscott, both Croydon residents, highlighting the transformative power of love as a form of activism.

By exploring these themes, I wanted to celebrate the resilience and strength found in love, both for ourselves and for each other, as a driving force for change and connection.

THE OPEN CALL

As part of this special event, we’re inviting Croydon residents from the LGBTQ+ community to participate in a photo shoot on Saturday, January 25th at the Urban Room (Whitgift Center) with the talented photographer Lukasz Izdebski.

The portraits will be featured in the exhibition, showcasing the resilience and strength of Croydon’s Queer community.

This exhibition is especially dear to me as it delves into the profound ways love and self-love are nurtured through our engagement with the community. It seeks to highlight how much we can learn from the Queer community about embracing love as a powerful form of activism.
