A new Family Hub was launched on 19 January at Woodlands Children's Centre. Attendees at the launch found out what a family hub is, why we are seeing the launch of this family hub and had the opportunity to meet workers who want to ensure Croydon's families access the best quality service and support available.
Family Hubs are a new way of bringing together all the support families may need from pregnancy through to young people turning 19 years, or 25 if they have a disability.
The first of three Family Hubs coming to Croydon is at Woodlands Children’s Centre. It will offer families a range of services, support and guidance which includes the current children’s centre activities. Two further Family Hubs will be launched and be in place by March 2025.
The children’s centre activities will continue and over time will be integrated with the new ‘Start for Life’ programme for very young children and their families, alongside activities and support for older children and young people.
The Family Hub model encourages professionals to work together to support families – including midwifery, health visitors, school nurses, outreach teams, early help workers, social workers and local organisations.
